| Project Description | Islamic Relief Worldwide, Bangladesh has been implementing the HELP-UP project in three vulnerable upazilas of Rangpur district with the sharing fund of European Union and Islamic Relief. The project targeted 10,000 female headed ultra poor households for enhancing their capacity for better surviving as this group is in most vulnerable position in Bangladesh. The main objectives of this project are to develop and manage sustainable income generating activities, establish sustainable livelihood and adequate income, ensure beneficiaries access to food, improve the utilization of food, enhance rights and entitlement of destitute women and improve their access to social justice, promote and mainstream gender equity, promote and mainstream environmental issue and improve crisis coping up mechanism during disaster and to reduce related food insecurity. |
| Overall aim and objective | Overall Objective: To improve food security of the rural ultra poor especially women headed households and to contribute towards achieving the 1st Millennium Development Goal Specific Objective: To reduce extreme poverty and food insecurity of the ultra poor households, with priority to female headed households, in the 3 most vulnerable Upazillas of Rangpur District. |
